Enterprise Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (EDS&AI) Team

The EDS&AI team leverages large amounts of data to extract insights and inform business decisions. We use data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to transform existing practices and innovate new processes, keeping PG&E on the forefront of safety, efficiency, and excellence. Operating in a Hub & Spoke model, our Center of Excellence provides standards and best practices, while our delivery teams work with business partners to implement these solutions. EDS&AI delivers products that enable data-driven decisions, improve business processes, and provide end-to-end project management—including problem scoping, data discovery, production deployment, and documentation.


Position Summary

Leads teams in developing new applications, designing and installing IT technical architecture and infrastructure systems, or enhancing existing systems—including projects that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (GenAI) technologies. Assembles project teams, defines scope, budget, and resource needs, and controls project variables. Functions as a liaison between IT, Business Clients, and AI stakeholders, representing the project from planning through deployment. Drives the adoption and integration of AI/GenAI solutions to support business transformation and innovation across the organization.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  


Pay range is:​ $144,000.00 - $213,400.00

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office (OGO) based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and coordinate IT projects and cross-functional initiatives, including GenAI/AI-related programs and projects.
  • Oversee integration and deployment of GenAI/AI technologies, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and business objectives.
  • Manage project scope, budget, resources, and schedules using standard PG&E tools.
  • Drive all project-related tasks to completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with the Enterprise Data Science and AI team to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and innovation.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with project sponsors, vendors, and key clients.
  • Communicate project status, roles, responsibilities, and expectations to stakeholders and management.


AI Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure projects adhere to enterprise AI governance frameworks, standards, and responsible AI principles.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with GenAI/AI implementations, including data privacy, security, and ethical considerations.


Metrics & Performance Management

  • Develop and track metrics, procedures, objectives, and methods to assess project progress, including GenAI/AI-specific KPIs.
  • Assess project performance and implement changes to ensure projects remain within cost, schedule, scope, and quality objectives.


Change Management & Training

  • Facilitate training and change management for project teams to leverage GenAI/AI solutions, ensuring effective utilization and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure all project team members have the tools and training necessary to perform effectively.


Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare project documentation for closure, storage, and possible auditing activities, ensuring technical accuracy.
  • Record, track, and communicate issues, risks, changes, and status reports within PG&E standard tools.


Team Development & Coaching

  • Provide direction and leadership to project management analysts and schedulers.
  • May act as a team lead and/or coach to developing employees.
  • Often serves as a technical coach, trainer, or mentor for others.


Concurrent Project Management

  • Responsible for leading one or more projects, typically between $100,000 - $10,000,000, including concurrent management of complex projects.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years experience in project management or software/product development cycles
  • Experience in IT professional service agreements
  • PMP certification


Desired:

  • Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience in PMO development.
  • Experience as Project Manager for high-complexity projects.
  • Experience managing projects involving GenAI/AI technologies, platforms, or solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to translate business needs into GenAI/AI project requirements and deliverables.
  • Experience collaborating with data science, machine learning, or GenAI engineering teams.
