Enterprise Business & Technology Modernization is a cross-functional organization leading PG&E’s Propel and Elevate programs, a major business and technology modernization initiative designed to unlock customer value by simplifying collaborative work processes. Position Summary

The GIS Technical Specialist will be the technical steward for non‑asset Enterprise GIS data ensuring standards, lineage, and quality are consistently applied so these datasets serve as a single source of truth across the business.

 

The position will support contractor‑delivered data migrations end‑to‑end: authoring mapping and transformation rules, defining QA/QC and acceptance criteria, validating loads, and driving defect resolution for each migration wave. Partnering with product, IT, and functional stakeholders, the position will operationalize data governance, set data standards, and ensure migrated datasets are performant, compliant, and ready for enterprise use in analytics and reporting, planning and design, and operations.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately 1 - 3 days per week, or more, based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

Bay Area: $122,000 - 173,800

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manage delivery of GIS-related data development projects, gather input and agreement on new requirements, develop contracts with vendors, lead implementation, communication, training, and documentation efforts.
  • Develop and perform advanced gathering, integration, and quality control procedures for geospatial data with significant impact and risk to LOB or function.
  • Develop metrics and process improvement programs for GIS- related work processes.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.
  • May manage cross-functional projects with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication.
  • Serve as lead SME for advanced enterprise GIS initiatives, develop and review software functionality requirements.
  • Use advanced knowledge and broad expertise to solve complex problems regarding GIS-related software, hardware, work processes, User support and data integration.
  • Work independently, with guidance on only the most complex projects.
  • Work with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
  • Work with IT DBAs, Migration, and Infrastructure Teams to develop, maintain system architecture and stability and resolve issues affecting business users.
  • Work with IT support teams to resolve day-to-day production issues and quickly respond to issues to minimize the business interruptions.
  • Demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with GIS-Geographic Information Systems, 7 years
  • Experience with GIS-Geographic Information System, ArcGIS, 5 years
  • Utility industry experience
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Ability to travel using personal vehicle

 

Desired:

 

  • Masters Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience with GIS-Geographic Information System, ArcSDE
  • Experience in contract administration
  • Experience with Software Development
  • Experience in data analysis
