Summary:

Headquarter location flexible throughout the PG&E service territory. This position is "hybrid", with the expectation of being in the office 3 days per week and when asked (subject to change due to business needs).

 

 As a Regulatory Analyst, Expert within PG&E’s Electric Compliance organization, you will serve as a senior subject matter expert responsible for developing, interpreting, and implementing regulatory strategies that strengthen compliance and operational readiness. Focused within the Policy Scanning and Requirements Management and Strategic Planning functions, this role leads the analysis of complex state and federal regulatory developments, conducts horizon scanning to identify emerging legislation and policy trends, and translates these insights into actionable internal obligations that shape compliance planning. You will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Law, and Regulatory Affairs to embed regulatory clarity and accountability into daily business processes, advancing PG&E’s commitment to safety, reliability, and wildfire mitigation excellence.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​126,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​200,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​120,000

California Maximum: $190,000

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support development and maintenance of compliance programs focused on regulatory requirements, internal standards, and performance monitoring within Electric Compliance.
  • Manage research and analysis to identify applicable regulatory requirements, assess changes, and ensure alignment of internal controls and processes.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging legislation, policy developments, and regulatory trends that may impact PG&E’s compliance programs and operational practices.
  • Draft and maintain compliance documentation, guidance materials, and evidence tracking tools to support audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Monitor compliance and risk performance metrics, perform validation or self-assessments, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Participate in policy scanning and requirements mapping efforts to ensure PG&E remains ahead of emerging mandates from agencies such as CPUC, OEIS, FERC, and CAISO.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to translate regulatory obligations into actionable work processes, ensuring compliance integration into day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to regulatory filings, responses, and documentation requests, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and timely delivery.
  • Support development of compliance dashboards, data visualizations, and analytics to strengthen evidence quality and oversight.
  • Assist in leading root-cause analyses and in developing mitigation or preventive controls to reduce compliance risk exposure.
  • Share insights and updates with leaders and peers to promote awareness, consistency, and collaboration across the Electric Compliance organization.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy, finance, engineering or related discipline or equivalent utility industry experience
  • Five years of relevant work experience

 

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of compliance and risk frameworks, internal controls, and regulatory analysis methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data, identify compliance trends, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with experience managing multiple projects in a matrixed environment.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools, spreadsheets, and compliance systems for tracking, reporting, and analysis.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent advanced education.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in compliance, regulatory strategy, or utility operations.
  • Expertise in interpreting and applying regulatory requirements to electric operations, safety, and wildfire mitigation programs.
  • Experience leading or coordinating enterprise-level compliance initiatives or audits.
  • Familiarity with compliance management and data analytics tools used for regulatory tracking and reporting.
  • Recognized as a trusted advisor and thought partner in regulatory interpretation and compliance strategy.
