Department Overview

 

Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations and maintenance, as well as Power Generation operations. The Team manages over 100,000 circuit miles of electric distribution lines and over 18,000 circuit miles of interconnected transmission lines, and operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for customers.  Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.
 
Position Summary

 

Manages and provides analytical oversight for the company’s Electric Distribution Wildfire and Core programs, a portfolio of engineering projects and other Electric Distribution initiatives or a special customer offering with an annual financial budget.  Ensures the program is operating effectively and in compliance with utility standards, safety codes and regulatory requirements.  Provides oversight, governance, communication, training, reporting, and overall process and project management. Responsibilities typically include some or most of the following in support of Program Management to ensure attainment of program performance metrics and regulatory objectives.


•    Managing relationships with and providing technical input to internal engineering teams, construction crews, regulatory teams, consultants and other key stakeholders
•    Developing, analyzing and monitoring budgets, forecasts and performance metrics
•    Developing, measuring, and reporting on operational success of the program  
•    Partnering with the Marketing organization, vendors and external partners to develop and implement strategies to reach appropriate customer audience and affected members of the public at the appropriate time
•    Identifying and maintaining strong working relationships with all strategic engineering/technical programs and business partners
•    Partnering with Regulatory and Compliance staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and support regulatory activities by supplying engineering, construction and financial information for filings, data requests, and meeting with regulators.
•    Identifying stakeholders and communicate within and outside of PG&E    
•    Developing and/or implementing technical policies and procedures
•    Identifying new partners, technologies, and delivery channels to enhance program delivery 
 
 
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Oakland). 

 

Incumbent should expect minimal travel (couple times a month).
 


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed toward the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 


A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $122,000
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000

 

OR

 

California Minimum: $116,000
California Maximum: $184,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 


 


Job Responsibilities


•    Accountable for all aspects of managing one or more major engineering programs. This includes construction coordination, driving forward unit attainment, managing the financials, data analysis, and all other aspects of the program as the SME for that work area.
•    Partner across engineering, planning, data science and finance functions to provide accurate unit and financial forecasts and execution progress for the program and improve the accuracy of forecasting at the program management level across multiple stakeholders. 
•    Applies broad engineering/technical expertise and advanced knowledge of utility system design and operation to wide-ranging issues.
•    May act as a team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees.
•    Works with Directors and Managers across engineering, data science and operations functions to influence decisions.
•    Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences using a variety of media.
•    Integrates industry knowledge of utilities, construction and data analysis into everyday business practices and decision making. 
•    Provides others with guidance around complex industry regulatory and compliance environment and considerations.
•    Creates new and complex data models to facilitate business decisions.
•    Provides direction on overall program.
•    Develops new or revises existing scopes of work to ensure regulatory compliance standards and deliverables are established.
 
Qualifications-

 

Minimum:
•    Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in business.
•    8 years of related experience or equivalent
Desired:
•    Bachelor degree in Engineering or related discipline
•    Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
•    PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
