Department Overview
The coworkers of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.
Portfolio Operations is Program & Portfolio Management’s centralized data insights and analytics team focused on in-depth assessments of Electric Operations work delivery to aid in the execution of our annual work portfolio and associated goals. We provide one source of truth for the data, with a common set of tools, methodology, and analytics. Our span extends from portfolio planning in collaboration with our partner organizations on thorough daily workplan management to ensuring consistent, efficient data support needed for all groups involved in work execution.
Position Summary
Collaborates with Electric Operations (EO), Customer Care, Shared Services, Gas Operations and Power Generation to develop metric, monitor and report on Electric Operations performance. Initiates and leads annual EO goal and metric development. Conducts analysis on variances, forecasts and operational trends. Monitors and reports on operational, productivity and efficiency metrics and scorecards. Recommends operational improvements and potential mitigations. Manages the annual refresh of seven EO strategic areas of focus and monthly status reports to the leadership team.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the Bay Area.
The successful candidate will have a steadfast focus on safety and compliance, in-depth knowledge of PG&E’s operations, be comfortable leading cross-functional teams, maintaining strategic and analytical oversight, communicating with leadership as appropriate, developing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to the appropriate work planning and execution processes.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000
Job Responsibilities
- Conducts analysis, reporting and tracking of units, unit cost and hours per unit for D.O. key units
- Contributes to metrics section of 5-year Strategy and Budget Plan (S1 and S2)
- Forecasts year-end results based on current trends, provides recommendations on improvements and corrective actions to D.O. leadership
- Leads cross-functional teams to support the development of metrics, balanced scorecards, dashboards and performance analytics
- Leads cross-functional teams. Provides direction to Senior Analysts and Analysts.
- Partners with all levels across EO to gather, analyze and monitor operational results and develop variance explanations; presents results and recommendations on operational performance, efficiency and productivity scorecard metrics to Distribution Operations (D.O) leadership. Provides insights into operational results and strategic advice to Senior Manager and Director as needed
- Provides ad-hoc in-depth analysis on complex issues to provide recommendations on solutions
- Serves as mentor to Analysts and Senior Analysts and provides short-term relief for Senior Manager
- Uses analysis, best practices and benchmark comparisons to recommend and implement improvements and corrective actions
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience
- 6 years of analytical experience including budget, finance, economics, mathematics and statistics
Desired:
- Experience in utility operations, or related
- LSS-Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience developing partnerships with internal stakeholders across engineering, construction, and support ops.
- Experience in Power BI visualizations and Data Connections
- Experience with Data Management tools
