Department Overview

Welcome to Electric Asset Strategy (EAS). We are responsible for asset strategy, standards, procedures, and end-to-end risk management for 2.3 million structures across the electric distribution system. We deliver risk-informed strategic plans that leverage inspection insights and asset data to guide maintenance and investment decisions.

The Distribution Asset Risk Management (ARM) team—comprising Asset Failure Analysis (AFA), Asset Insights, and Inspections & Maintenance Strategy (I&M)—focuses on continuously improving how PG&E monitors and maintains its assets to support a resilient, reliable grid and help keep our communities safe.

Position Summary

The Program Manager, Expert will lead the development, implementation, and financial stewardship of I&M strategy programs for PG&E’s electric distribution assets. The role will translate regulatory requirements, asset condition insights, risk analysis, budget planning, accounting considerations, and operational constraints into executable multiyear strategies and work plans that improve safety, reliability, compliance, affordability, and risk-spend efficiency.

This position requires strong accounting, financial analysis, investment planning, and practical AI literacy to develop defensible budgets, forecasts, business cases, and funding recommendations. The successful candidate will play a leading role in Business Plan Deployment (BPD); annual and multiyear investment planning; cost and variance analysis; prioritization of competing capital and expense needs; and reconciliation of program scope, unit costs, work volumes, and financial outcomes. The role will use approved AI tools responsibly to accelerate research and synthesis, analyze structured and unstructured information, test assumptions, draft and quality-check work products, and improve the speed and consistency of financial, regulatory, and program management activities. The successful candidate will apply sound judgment, protect confidential information, validate outputs against authoritative sources, and maintain clear human accountability. The role will establish performance measures, monitor program and financial results, challenge assumptions, and present clear recommendations to senior leaders and governance forums.

The Program Manager, Expert will also provide critical regulatory support and may serve as a General Rate Case (GRC) witness assistant, helping coordinate the development of accurate, consistent, and well-supported testimony, workpapers, exhibits, and discovery responses. The role will lead cross-functional responses to regulatory data requests—often on short notice—by rapidly organizing subject-matter experts, validating operational and financial data, documenting assumptions and source support, identifying risks and inconsistencies, and delivering high-quality responses within firm deadlines. Strong partnerships across Asset Strategy, Inspections, Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Wildfire Risk, Regulatory, Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Law, Technology, data teams, vendors, and external partners will be essential to meeting program and regulatory commitments.

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company, in good faith, believes it might pay for this position at the time of posting. This compensation range is specific to the job’s location. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate that the successful candidate will be placed near the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis based on these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

The reasonable salary ranges are:

Bay Area Minimum: $129,000
Bay Area Midpoint: $168,000
Bay Area Maximum: $207,000
and/or
California Minimum: $123,000
