Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering Planning and Strategy ensure all manners of electric engineering including electric planning, standards, engineering, regulatory compliance, asset management and electric investment planning are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

 

 

Position Summary

The Substation Asset Implementation Manager leads the team responsible for development and implementation of substation projects and programs.  Incumbents are responsible for developing electric substation asset development proposals and for managing and improving performance of the electric substation assets from a long and short-term, asset performance, capacity, and reliability, perspective. Incumbents partner with internal departments and cross-functional teams to establish the safest, most reliable, and cost- effective electric transmission infrastructure system, and may communicate with regulators, customers and other external stakeholders to advance PG&E's objectives.

 

This position is flexible throughout the PG&E service territory (bay area preferred). This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location 1-2 days in office per week, but is subject to change, based on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​159,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​271,000

OR​

California Minimum: $​151,000

California Maximum: $257,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements capital projects for the electric substation portfolio including asset health, reliability, capacity and other projects 
  • Supports scoping and manages developments of short and long-term-strategy project proposals for substation and infrastructure. 
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, rewards and recognition.
  • Manages Supervisors or Professional employees.
  • Oversees the engineers tasked with creating plans for specific assets.
  • Ensures annual and strategy documents are completed and updated.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of engineering experience, including experience with cycle time planning of assets and strategy related to infrastructure asset development

 

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in business administration or equivalent experience
  • PE-Professional Engineer license
