Department Overview

The Special Projects Project Management Office (PMO), among other things, oversees the development and execution of safety and operational projects as may be assigned by the Chief Operating Officer (COO); and manages, advances and executes any other emerging projects assigned by the Executive Officer Team. The PMO is led by the COO’s Chief of Staff. 

 

There are two teams in the PMO: (1) Operations Business Execution Team and (2) Operations Business Strategy Team. 
Operations Business Execution Team

  • Operations and Strategy Oversight: 
    • Drive operational excellence through strategic planning, process improvement, and performance tracking via PG&E Performance Playbook (Lean, Breakthrough, and PG&E Safety Excellence Management System)
    • Lead Lean Maturity Assessments and oversee performance metrics 
  • Engagement and Communication: 
    • Create and execute strategies for coworker, contractor, community and external engagement 
    • Organize company-wide meetings and leadership communication initiatives 
  • Activation of Culture: 
    • Partner with Human Resources to develop talent strategies 

Operations Business Strategy Team: 

  • Business Planning and Compliance 
    • Oversee Operations business planning, budgeting, and headcount management 
    • Execute audits, report metrics, and support change management initiatives 
    • Manage compliance with safety standards and operational commitments 
  • Activation of Culture 
    • Leads the planning and execution of the Leadership Town Halls
    • Governs, oversees, and executes the Role of the Supervisor Initiative   
    • Represents and leads Operations participation in the Activation of Culture Strategic Initiative, Leadership Behaviors Standard, and Workplace of the Future 
    • Leads the development and implementation of management of change efforts 
  • Special Projects
    • Plans and executes any high-impact special projects assigned by the COO and other officers
  • The Electric Program Manager, Senior will report either to the Manager, Operations Business Execution or Director, Operations Business Strategy. 

 

Position Summary

Manages and/or administers a company program, a grouping of project work or a special customer offering with an assigned/designated annual financial budget. The incumbent provides oversight, governance, communication, training, reporting as well as overall process and project management for the assigned program. Manages the program budget, which may include developing and presenting the budget proposal.

  •  This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the Bay Area of the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $102,000
Bay Maximum: $162,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 
 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Applies advanced knowledge of Program Management to moderate to complex assignments and established programs. Works independently on most issues. May participate in the development of new programs.
  • Collaborates with manager on the development of annual productivity targets for work to be completed in the program.
  • Prepares and presents program budget recommendation to leaders with some guidance from manager. Reviews and prepares monthly budget variance explanations.
  • Administers identified program work or projects. Tracks activity and completions. Prepares reports and status updates and presents to manager and/or key program stakeholders. Performs trend analysis to identify issues with costs or productivity and develop recommendations. Receives limited guidance from manager on complex issues.
  • May be assigned to a program that involves external customer interface. Regularly communicates with customers regarding program work status and/or resolving issues.
  • Assists manager or senior peers in analysis of work plan and schedules to reallocate resources or reprioritize program work.
  • Develops recommendations for improvements to tools and processes for the program. Identifies, develops and participates in or may lead the implementation of best practices to improve productivity and reduce operation costs.

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 5 years
  • May require some travel. Occasional need for flexible/long hours.

  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Presentation skills
