Department Overview

 

Position Summary

Provides technical support to Electric Distribution Maintenance & Construction (EDM&C) by acting as a liaison and advocate between the Electric Distribution Standards Engineers and EDM&C, and providing communication and feedback regarding construction standards and equipment issues. Partners with various departments integrating safety into the development of standards, equipment designs and all work tasks, helping to ensure safe, reliable and quality electric service to our customers.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads meetings with assigned LOB stakeholders.
  • Leads team for high level initiatives reporting to steering teams.
  • May lead, support or review investigations of equipment failure related events that occur in the overhead and underground electric distribution system.
  • May provide direction and coaching to less experienced Specialists.
  • Offers expert level consultation in partnering with Applied Technical Services (ATS) in equipment testing.
  • Partners and consults with the electric Distribution Standards Engineers and Electric Distribution Maintenance & Construction (EDM&C) by providing expertise, communication and feedback regarding construction standards, and associated equipment issues. Prioritizes researches and responds to complex and/or high impact field requests or issues.
  • Provides input and support for electric distribution asset strategy initiatives.
  • Provides lead role in reviewing standards documentation updates. uses field expertise to edit and offer suggestions to standards engineers regarding documentation needs and effective methods of presenting information.
  • Provides technical expertise, historical perspective, industry standard, and regulation code requirements to improve safety, productivity, and performance.
  • Supports and offers guidance on Material Problem Report (MPR) corrective actions, human performance and safety, updated work methods and procedures, specialized technical training and the evaluation of new products for field use. Identifies improvements and recommends to leaders.
  • Works independently with very little supervision. Handles high level issues related to construction standards and associated equipment.

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Experience as journey-level professional, job-related, 5 years
  • Experience in electric utility, 1 year
  • Desired:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
