Position Summary: The Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and compliance programs within Electric Operations and other affiliated organizations that own or operate covered assets. This role ensures adherence to regulatory and internal standards through rigorous audits, evidence management, and strategic process improvements. The manager will lead initiatives that enhance compliance performance and support executive-level decision-making through data-driven insights and reporting.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)            $136,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)        $184,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $232,000.00

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Oversight:

    • Lead ongoing audits of compliance programs across Electric Operations and related entities.
    • Ensure programs meet regulatory and internal standards for covered assets.

Compliance Evidence Management:

    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance evidence record and repository.
    • Supervise staff responsible for documentation and evidence tracking.

Standardization & Training:

    • Maintain standard processes and procedures for compliance case management.
    • Deliver training programs for case leads to ensure consistency and accuracy in compliance practices.

Case Tracking & Risk Management:

    • Track compliance cases and manage risks associated with data responses.
    • Support timely and accurate resolution of compliance-related issues.

Strategic Projects & Process Improvement:

    • Drive special projects focused on benchmarking and implementing industry best practices.
    • Assess potential impacts of changes and recommend strategic responses.

Executive Reporting & Communication:

  • Present programmatic updates to executives in response to risk management, regulatory inquiries, and external communications.
  • Translate complex compliance data into actionable insights.

Performance Metrics & Scorecard Management:

    • Define and track department metrics aligned with annual and long-term goals.
    • Present scorecards to senior leadership and adjust metrics based on evolving business needs.

Internal Compliance Program (ICP) Implementation:

    • May lead the implementation of the ICP for Bulk Electric System (BES) assets (100 kV and above).
    • Ensure compliance with both external regulatory requirements and internal company standards.
    • Oversee the following components of the ICP:
    • Risk assessment and mitigation planning
    • Internal controls and monitoring systems
    • Training and awareness programs
    • Corrective action tracking and resolution
    • Documentation and audit readiness

Data Response & Visual Insights Support:

    • Collaborate with the Visual Management and Insights team to prepare updates related to data responses.
    • Ensure data accuracy and clarity in visual reporting tools and executive dashboards.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of experience with electric utility or related programs.
  • 5 years of experience as a program or project manager.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred in one of the following: Master of Science in Regulatory Compliance (MSRC), (or) Master of Legal Studies (MLS) with a Compliance Concentration, (or) Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Risk Management or Compliance
  • 7+ years of experience in electric utility compliance, quality assurance, or operations
  • Strong knowledge of BES assets and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CPUC, NERC, FERC)
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive audiences
  • Proficiency in compliance management systems and data analytics tools
  • Certification in compliance or auditing (e.g., CCEP, CIA)
  • Experience with enterprise risk management
  • Familiarity with electric utility operations and asset management systems
