Department Overview

The Corporate Sustainability team works to integrate PG&E’s sustainability commitment into the company’s business strategy across the “triple bottom line” of serving people, the planet, and California’s prosperity. With the support of PG&E’s Chief Sustainability Officer, the team works collaboratively to implement PG&E’s climate and environmental stewardship goals; tell our story by measuring and communicating PG&E’s sustainability performance; identify, benchmark, and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement within our business; and engage with a wide range of stakeholders to guide and strengthen PG&E’s sustainability strategy.

Position Summary

This position will support PG&E’s active, ongoing efforts to achieve a net-zero energy system. A key area of focus will be supporting the tracking, reporting, and visual management of PG&E’s progress towards our climate goals, along with designing and implementing the associated business processes. The position includes greenhouse gas measurement, technical analyses, and support for benchmarking, modeling, and studies to inform PG&E’s goals and strategies.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with carbon accounting and tracking, reporting, and visual management of data. The individual will possess knowledge of sustainability and climate change best practices, along with strong research, organizational, and analytical skills. The individual will also possess outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences and constituencies. The individual will also be able to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team and to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to implementation.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and our Oakland General Office based on business needs. 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $75,000

Bay Area Maximum: $113,000

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the development and third-party verification of PG&E’s annual Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventory.
• Manage monthly climate goal tracking, reporting, and forecasting, including preparing materials for various company operating reviews to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic consultation and technical support to business partners on decarbonization plans, issues, and best practices.
• Analyze climate change and environmental stewardship-related benchmarking, scenario analysis, and studies to inform PG&E’s goals and strategies.
• Improve PG&E’s transparency and climate leadership through external reporting.
• Support various other corporate sustainability analysis, communications, and engagement activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree or equivalent experience

• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience
• At least one (1) year of professional writing experience

Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s degree

• Prior utility industry experience

• More than the minimum years of relevant work experience
