Department Overview

The Corporate Sustainability team works to integrate PG&E’s sustainability commitment into the company’s business strategy across the “triple bottom line” of serving people, the planet, and California’s prosperity. With the support of PG&E’s Chief Sustainability Officer, the team works collaboratively to implement PG&E’s climate and environmental stewardship goals with a focus on better serving vulnerable communities throughout the energy transition; tell our story by measuring and communicating PG&E’s sustainability performance; identify, benchmark, and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement within our business; and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including environmental and social justice and Native American Tribal communities, to guide and strengthen PG&E’s sustainability strategy.

 

 

Position Summary

This position will support PG&E’s active efforts to achieve a net zero energy system by 2040 and longer-term environmental stewardship goals. A key area of focus will be leading PG&E’s annual Corporate Sustainability Report and engaging with sustainability ratings and rankings to improve PG&E’s disclosure and performance. It will also involve various communications and engagement activities, both internally and externally, to advance PG&E’s sustainability goals and strategies.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of sustainability, climate change, and environmental stewardship strategies and best practices. The individual will possess outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues to a range of audiences and constituencies. The individual will possess strong research, organizational, and analytical skills and experience with tracking, reporting, and visual management of sustainability data and content. The individual will also be able to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team and to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to implementation.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $95,000
Bay Area Maximum: $143,000
 

Job Responsibilities

•    Lead research, writing, and overall project management for PG&E’s annual Corporate Sustainability Report.
•    Manage and actively work to improve PG&E’s performance on key sustainability ratings and rankings and enhance cross-functional collaboration on this work within PG&E.
•    Enhance coworker engagement on sustainability in support of our commitment to serve the planet.
•    Support PG&E’s longer-term environmental stewardship goals as part of the company’s business strategy.
•    Engage with third-party sustainability organizations and PG&E’s external Sustainability Advisory Council to identify best practices, tell our story, and help guide PG&E’s sustainability journey.
 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
•    At least five years of relevant work experience
•    At least three years of professional writing experience
 
Desired Qualifications:
•    Master’s degree
•    Prior experience communicating corporate sustainability issues to various stakeholders
•    Prior utility industry experience
