Department Overview

 

Operations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Work Management & Resource Planning, Execution Support, Business Operations & Process Improvement, and Enterprise Public Works. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 1,000 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location based on business needs.

 

The Business System Specialist develops solutions for assigned business system(s) or tools and designs, prototypes and/or publishes custom reporting solutions. Functions as a liaison to IT from the line of business, representing the end users and business process owners in business system requirements, implementations and support. Defines user system requirements, provides user support, coordinates user acceptance testing of new tools and gathers user’s feedback. Performs feasibility analysis, develops project scope, and provides recommendations on alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization. This position will work with the Expert Business System Specialists to maintain, develop, and deliver automations using Microsoft’s Power Platform, to include Power Automate, PowerApps, SharePoint, and PowerBI.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $ 102,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $ 152,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Provides system and report configuration development using various tools and/or languages. Develops new and enhances existing reports, views, forms, Power Platform objects and other software functionality to meet clients' needs for assigned business systems or tools.
  • Plans, manages, and controls the activities required to ensure that Power Platform products meet the objectives of user ease, availability, efficiency, and quality. Revises and finalizes user specifications, technical documentation, and other descriptive documentation for customized and standardized system configurations and/or reports to be housed in a central location.
  • Provide consulting in business and user needs.
  • Handle moderate to complex user issues that arise with supported systems and tools. Address most calls independently; escalate the more complex problems to senior peers.
  • Analyze end-to-end, moderate to high complexity business processes in one or more business functional areas.
  • Understand the current and future business environment of the organization and effectively anticipate, identify and meet the business needs.
  • Identify, propose and influence solutions to moderate-to-complex business problems.
  • Anticipate concerns and questions and provide timely and professional communications.
  • Actively contribute to teams that define, review and approve requirements for the business needs solution.
  • Contribute to business case development.
  • May write manuals, Requests for Change, procedures.
  • Participate in UATs and perform quality reviews of test results.
  • Participate in project estimates.
  • May provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced employees.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 years of job-related experience in Business, IT or Engineering fields.
  • Participation in projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Continuous education in IT and business specific areas.

 

Desired:

 

  • Advanced degree is a plus
  • 5+ years of job-related experience in Business Analysis, which may include or be in addition to 5+ years of experience in Information Technology.
  • Working experience with the corresponding Line of Business.
  • Extensive participation in projects of high complexity.
  • Leadership role in projects of medium complexity.
  • Very knowledgeable about the business requirements process.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the utility business and several functional areas of the related Line of Business.
  • Ability to work with different teams across disciplines and levels.
  • Good analytical decision-making skills.
  • Experience developing in Microsoft’s Power Platform, to include Power Automate, PowerApps, SharePoint, and PowerBI.
  • Experience writing SELECT SQL statements, modifying tables and views.
