Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines.

 

Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems and create standard work. By working together as One Electric. One Team. We are delivering for our hometowns. Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for research, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support business decision-making, strategy, and operations.  Acts as a business liaison between VM Transmission Planning team, VM Transmission Execution, and VM Leadership. They may also be involved in business process improvement, quality control, special projects, and other initiatives.

 

This hybrid position works from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters location is  Antioch. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Responsibilities typically include many or all of the following:

 

  • Data Analysis: Compiles and analyzes data. May develop and maintain data models for what-if analysis and other business purposes.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Develops and tracks business metrics. Develops and maintains standard, custom, and ad-hoc reports from Vegetation Management systems (VMD, PMD, ITS, remote sensing data, etc)
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develops or works with budgets and forecasts for leadership review and feedback.
  • VM Data Requests and Miscellaneous Activities: Collects and links data from various sources including databases and data sets provided by partners outside of VM and Functional Areas. Validates data integrity and creates custom reports based on business needs.
  • Research: Research best practices; develop internal and external benchmarks supporting business decisions.
  • Quality Assurance & Business Process Improvement: Performs  quality assurance and business process improvement activities in support of the business. These activities may include developing, managing, or coordinating performance or quality assessment, business process re-engineering, change management, communication, and training.
  • Project Management: Lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources and issues.

 

Disclosure:

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. 

 

The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Pay Range: 

 

  • Minimum:  $102,00
  • Midpoint:  $127,00
  • Maximum:  $152,00

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs analysis on complex data models requiring customized reports and data.
  • Develop new or revise existing data analysis to predict business outcomes by selecting from various complex variables.
  • Develops and uses metrics to develop business strategy and operations recommendations. Presents findings and recommendations to leaders.
  • Manages small to mid-size projects.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years of related work experience.

Desired:

  • MBA or graduate degree
  • Broad knowledge of different analytical methods, approaches, and tactics
  • Advanced understanding of fundamental analysis and what-if modeling concepts, methods, and techniques and analysis of how different factors affect business outcomes.
  • Creative problem skills to develop solutions.
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to justify any business changes.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to deliver findings and recommendations to various levels of management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key drivers affecting business results.
  • Strong project management knowledge and skills to lead project teams.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, or similar software.
