AI and Automation Programmer Analyst, Associate - SAP S/4HANA Implementation

Department Overview 

• The SAP Program Office leads the strategic implementation of SAP S/4HANA across the organization, driving digital transformation and operational excellence. The team partners closely with business units and IT to modernize core enterprise processes, enhance data-driven decision-making, and integrate emerging technologies such as AI and automation. Through cross-functional collaboration and innovation, the SAP Program Office ensures scalable, future-ready solutions that align with organizational goals and industry best practices. 

Position Summary 

• The AI and Automation Associate will play a key role in identifying, designing, and prototyping automation and artificial intelligence (AI) use cases within the SAP S/4HANA implementation program. The role involves collaborating with business process owners, IT stakeholders, and the SAP project team to analyze end-to-end processes, identify automation or AI opportunities, and build proof-of-concept (POC) solutions using modern automation and AI tools. This is a hands-on role combining process understanding, technical experimentation, and stakeholder engagement to accelerate innovation within the SAP transformation journey. 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.  This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $33.65/hour to $50.96/hour 

Job Responsibilities 

• Process Analysis & Opportunity Identification 

• Work closely with SAP functional and business teams to understand key business processes being implemented in S/4HANA (e.g., Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing). 

• Identify potential areas were AI, machine learning (ML), or automation (RPA, workflow, etc.) can enhance process efficiency, accuracy, or user experience. 

• Document use cases and define measurable business outcomes for AI/automation opportunities. 

• Solution Design & Prototyping 

• Develop proof-of-concepts (POCs) and prototypes using AI and automation tools (e.g., SAP BTP, SAP AI Core, UiPath, Power Automate, Python-based AI tools, etc.). 

• Integrate prototypes with SAP environments and relevant data sources where applicable. 

• Validate feasibility and potential business value of proposed solutions. 

• Stakeholder Collaboration 

• Conduct workshops and demos with business and IT stakeholders to showcase prototypes and gather feedback. 

• Support change management and adoption of automation/AI initiatives. 

• Collaborate with enterprise architects and data teams to ensure scalability and alignment with the overall SAP transformation roadmap. 

• Continuous Learning & Innovation 

• Stay current on emerging AI and automation technologies relevant to enterprise systems and SAP ecosystem. 

• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, best practices, and innovation pipeline. 

Qualifications 

Minimum: 

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience and/or field of study Strong understanding in process analysis, automation, or AI-related projects. 

• 1 year of programming analysis experience or internship experience. 

• Must have a degree conferred by the start date.   

• Must have permanent authorization to work full time (40 hours a week) in the United States. PG&E will not provide visa or immigration support.   

• Basic understanding of the technical components of the job. Basic understanding of software, how it works, and how it often breaks. 

Desired: 

• Graduating in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. 

• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA modules and business processes. 

• Familiarity with one or more automation or AI tools (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere, SAP BTP, Python, TensorFlow, Azure AI, etc.). 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an innovative mindset. 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially for stakeholder demos. 

• Ability to create basic test beds, create test scenarios, create regression tests, document and assess software reliability.  

• Experience working on or supporting SAP implementation or digital transformation programs. 

• Knowledge of data analytics, machine learning model lifecycle, or AI integration with enterprise systems. 

• Exposure to SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (iRPA) or SAP AI Core/Launchpad. 

• Certification in AI/ML, RPA, or SAP technologies is a plus.
