Department Overview

PG&E’s Clean Energy Transportation (CET) group leads programs that help accelerate the transition to clean vehicles in California and operates a portfolio of transportation electrification initiatives.

 

Team Overview

The Vehicle Grid Integration (VGI) team focuses on integrating electric vehicles into the grid through technologies such as smart charging and AC Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).

 

Position Summary

The AC V2G Product Intern will support the implementation of PG&E’s AC V2G pilot, assisting with research, product documentation, stakeholder coordination, and customer engagement.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs. The work location is in Oakland, CA. The intern is expected to come into the work location at least 2 days a week.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.88 to $35.37 an hour.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with research on AC V2G technology, customer needs, and industry trends.
  • Support cross-functional coordination with engineering, IT, regulatory, and customer teams.
  • Prepare materials for customer outreach and pilot onboarding.
  • Track project tasks, action items, and timelines.
  • Conduct research on standards and regulatory pathways relevant to V2G.
  • Support team brainstorming and VGI portfolio development activities.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Public Policy, Energy Systems, or related field at an accredited university
  • Students must be continuing their education toward their degree during and/or after the internship

 

Desired:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Interest in clean transportation and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with EV charging, grid operations, or distributed energy resources.
  • Exposure to design thinking or customer-centered design.
  • Experience in project coordination or working with cross-functional teams.
