Department Overview

The Construction team supports field operations by coordinating, planning, documentation, scheduling, and compliance activities that enable safe, efficient, and cost‑effective construction work. The team works closely with coordinators, frontline supervisors, and cross‑functional partners to ensure job readiness, regulatory alignment, and accurate reporting throughout construction.

 

Position Summary

The Construction Specialist intern provides critical administrative and coordination support to construction coordinators and frontline supervisors. The Construction Specialist plays a key role in ensuring job packages are complete, schedules are accurate, costs are managed, and changes are tracked and communicated effectively.

 

This position is onsite, working from your assigned work location 5 days a week. The work location is Marysville or Woodland. 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.88 to $35.37.  

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Review job packages and SAP weekly schedules to prepare materials for printing and Coordination.
  •  Examine long text and construction drawings to identify related jobs and note any changes to Scope.
  •  Monitor and track permits required within county limits and maintain compliance with local requirements.
  •  Communicate scheduled or canceled work to county officials as advance notice requirements increase.
  • Upload, manage, and print job‑related photos as needed.
  •  Act as the primary point of contact for other departments (including LEAPS) when documents are missing or changes are required in job packages.
  • Support the submission and tracking of scope changes.
  • Review schedules to confirm assigned work and identify priority jobs requiring escalation.
  • Ensure notes are entered into the Salesforce schedule prior to scheduling calls.
  • Record and track week‑to‑week job updates up to four weeks in advance.
  • Assist in completing job package PC02/CRDY prior to handoff to the frontline supervisor.
  • Assist with tracking construction crews on planned jobs.
  • Monitor jobs that may become high‑cost upon completion and flag risks as needed.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or in a related field at an accredited university 
  • Students must be continuing education toward their degree during and/or after the internship
  • Valid drivers license to drive around PG&E service territory as needed to visit field offices

 

Desired:

  • Familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, or similar scheduling and tracking systems
  • Experience supporting construction, coordination, or field operations teams
  • Knowledge of permit tracking and county or local regulatory requirements
  • Experience with quality control documentation or audit support
  • Business or Engineering Degree
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and track multiple jobs, schedules, and documents simultaneously
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external agencies
  • Experience working with scheduling systems, job packages, or construction documentation
