Department Overview
The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
 
Position Summary
Oversees a team in the field installing, commissioning, maintaining and troubleshooting Distribution Line protective and SCADA equipment. Ensures efficiency and safety regarding field assets. Partners with the control center, engineering, and field operations organizations to troubleshoot and resolve issues and project designs. Assists in long term planning of field device installation and upgrade in support of achieving superior results and return on investment.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)    $136,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)    $184,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)    $232,000.00

 

  • Minimum Base Salary (California)    $129,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (California)    $175,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (California)    $220,000.00

 
Job Responsibilities
•    Oversees system wide team of Distribution Line Technicians who commission, maintain, and troubleshoot critical protective equipment on the distribution Grid
•    Adjusts workload and workplan across multiple project needs (Public Safety Power Shut off, Wildfire Safety Inspection Program, and others)
•    Works with department to develop budget (expense, capital, and expenditures), and monitor, forecast and report on budget performance.
•    Identifies the developmental needs of others, and coaches and mentors others to improve their knowledge or skills.
•    Develops, implements, and approves guidelines and process documentation.
•    Develops and tracks metrics that provide data for process measurement, business operations or risk assessment and may present findings to leadership.
•    Leads the effort to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
•    Ensures the timely return to service of SCADA and non-SCADA equipment as well as the construction and release of new SCADA a projects.
•    Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.
•    Establishes a working environment that fosters engagement, continuous learning, innovation, open honest communication, critical thinking, creative problem solving, efficiency, accountability, collegiality and safety.
 
Qualifications
 Minimum:
•    Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
•    8 years of job-related experience
•    3 years of leadership experience 
 
Desired:
•    CA Class C License, or equivalent
•    Ability to travel up to 25 percent of working time
•    Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Engineering,  or equivalent experience
•    Leadership experience, union-represented employees, 5 years
•    Experience as Troubleman, 3 years
•    Experience as Electrician, journey-level, 3 years
•    Experience with SCADA-Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, 1 year
•    Electrician Journey certification
•    Lineman Journey certification
