Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers.  Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.


Position Summary

This position provides communication and change management support for PG&E Electric Operations for major initiatives to ensure that the workforce is prepared for technology, process, and organizational changes.


Additionally, The Communication/Change Specialist partners with the organization to fully understand the specific initiative or change; assess communication and change management needs; and recommends and implements appropriate communication and change management methodologies


Please note that the locations for these positions may be in one of the following counties: Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo, San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Solano, Mendocino, Humboldt, El Dorado, Solano, Yolo, Shasta, Tehama, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador, San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Kern, Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties.


 Job Responsibilities

  • Assess communication and change management needs and develop plans that support organizational readiness for change, both pre and post project deployment
  • Develop complex communication and change management approaches, plans, and tactics for large and complex initiatives that have divisional and/or company-wide impact
  • Able to navigate the organization and understand complex inter-relationships of various groups, operations, systems or processes to be able to identify risks, impacts and strategies that will help drive communication and change management strategy and plans
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional stakeholders including leadership, project teams, and members of other PG&E departments to deliver desired impact and results
  • In partnership with project managers and business sponsors, execute change management plans and actions that include coordinated learning, communication, and engagement activities
  • Identify communication and training opportunities and approaches to facilitate understanding and garner support for changes and business processes
  • Develop and implement communication plans and support other communications activities including preparing and disseminating communications and/or participating in the planning and implementation of leadership or employee meetings/events
  • Develop and assist in the training and mentoring of supervisors and other leadership team members in the area of communication and change management




  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Change Management Certification
  • Three to five (3-5) years supervisory or training experience
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Business Strategy, Organizational Change, Electric Operations Architecture, Project Management, Vendor Management, etc
  • Experience facilitating meetings, including presentations to Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout Northern/Central CA


  • Graduate Degree in organization development or related field
  • Experience leading change management activities in a large, process driven organization
  • Ability to participate as an active project team member and articulate change management methodologies, approaches, strategies, and plans
  • Ability to successfully advocate for inclusion of organizational change management activities into project plans
  • Experience in Branding and Rebranding
  • Ability to effectively raise and communicate issues even when unpopular
  • Demonstrated ability to compose written messages for Senior-level leaders
  • Experience in videography, to include directing, editing, and producing videos
  • Experience leading a change management project with a budget over $10 million
