Position Summary
The IT Network Specialist, Associate supports the availability, integrity, and reliability of enterprise network and telecommunications systems. This role provides operational and technical support for network infrastructure, technology platforms, and related services by monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and assisting with incident resolution.
Working under general supervision, the Associate Network Specialist collaborates with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to support day-to-day network operations, evaluate emerging technologies, and contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for candidates seeking to develop their networking and infrastructure expertise within a large-scale enterprise environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 3 operational support by analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
- Support the administration and maintenance of network infrastructure components, including routers, firewalls, proxy servers, and related technologies.
- Monitor system performance and assist in maintaining the stability, security, and availability of enterprise services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Assist with technology implementations, upgrades, and deployment activities.
- Participate in testing and validation of new technologies in lab and production environments.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational procedures, documentation, and standards.
- Support IT professionals and business stakeholders with technology product usage and implementation.
- Assist in the management and maintenance of telecommunications and network systems to support business continuity.
- Participate in training initiatives and professional development opportunities to expand technical knowledge and skills.
- Complete assignments in accordance with established processes, procedures, and service-level expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six (6) months of Information Technology experience or equivalent exposure to IT operations and support environments.
- Ability to work in a 24x7 operational environment, including evenings, weekends, and on-call support as needed.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel using a personal vehicle when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of experience supporting IT operations, infrastructure, or enterprise systems.
- One (1) year of experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Telecommunications Operations Center, or similar environment.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, RHCE, Security+, or other relevant technical certifications.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, system monitoring tools, incident management processes, and enterprise technology environments.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $36.06 to $54.33 per hour
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
