Department Overview
Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.
Position Summary
Electric Program Management leadership is responsible for overseeing teams engaged in the planning, execution, and continuous oversight of system-wide initiatives within major work categories—referred to as programs—under the Quality Management Organization. These programs may encompass internally driven efforts such as maintenance, construction, and system inspections aligned with quality control and assurance standards for compliance.
Leaders in this role may contribute to the design and implementation of program tools and processes. They proactively monitor internal and external factors that influence program planning, forecasting, and execution, and are empowered to recommend and implement adjustments to ensure successful outcomes.
The core responsibility of Electric Program Management leadership is to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with applicable regulations, tariffs, standards, and procedural requirements. They foster a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring that all employees adhere to company and regulatory safety policies, practices, and requirements.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Will need to travel to any of the following: San Ramon, Dublin, Stockton.
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area – $122,000 - $173,800
And/or
California - $116,000 - $165,000
Job Responsibilities
- Contributes to process and procedure development, implementation, communications, and training for program changes. Ensure that new processes and procedures are explored and implemented to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitors compliance with Company and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) regulations, construction standards, and requirements. Provides oversight and/or assistance for any required compliance assessments or reviews.
- Oversees regular production and distribution of program metrics. Collects, consolidates, and analyzes work completion information to determine overall trending. Develops and delivers presentation on program status, risk and corrective measures to managers and directors.
- Participates in regular work planning sessions, considering factors that might affect demand for work, expected volumes and unit costs, partnering with related departments/leaders.
- Prioritize program work based on available resources, size of the project portfolio, costs, risks, exposures, or customer needs, while remaining compliant with applicable regulations.
- Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.
- Depending on nature of project work in program, may have extensive interface with external organizations..
- Direct reports typically include Career to Senior level Program Managers/contractors.
- Leads and coordinates day to day activities of a team performing monitoring, facilitating and coordination of programs of moderate impact or volume.
- May function as a consultant, subject matter expert or a project manager depending upon the needs of the various business partners.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as: electric construction, maintenance, service planning, compliance, financial planning, or quality control/assurance.
- Some travel throughout the service territory may be required.
Desired:
- Knowledge of electric utility business operations practices such as maintenance & construction, estimating, design and planning.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements or tariffs for assigned program work.
