Department Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response. The Integrity Management organization’s vision is to:
•         Improve pipeline safety and system reliability with a goal of zero safety incidents.
•         Promote a safety culture throughout all levels of the organization with an emphasis on improving learning from the past and anticipating the future.
•         Apply integrity management principles on a system-wide basis while engaging our stakeholders, from local communities we operate in to our regulators, so they can understand and participate in reducing our risk.
•         Support the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the transmission and distribution pipeline systems through the proactive use of asset knowledge, threat identification, knowledge of threat interaction, data integration and analytical tools to increase operational efficiency, improve system integrity and minimize safety risk to employees and the communities we operate in.

 

Position Summary

Provides technical support of transmission and distribution facilities and operations, construction and/or maintenance functions within Gas Operations. Provides subject matter support of special programs/projects as needed. Collaborates to ensure the safety, integrity and reliability of the assigned assets. Supports managing all phases of a project including: plan, analyze, design, build, test and deploy. May perform testing of new equipment and assist in the training efforts of other Specialist or Gas Control Technicians.

This is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered position and is subject to random drug and/ or alcohol testing.

 

Job Responsibilities

•         Work interdepartmentally with Asset Family Owners (AFO) to develop business requirements for an asset health and criticality scoring system in SAP and PLM
•         Provide support to Gas Engineers and other specialists and project teams as the subject matter expert related to assigned assets by developing, compiling and providing technical data.
•         Support the creation or modification of technical work procedures related to maintenance practice changes
•         Contribute toward Gas Safety Excellence goals by improving safety, integrity and reliability of the assigned assets and affordability for one or more asset families and one or more life cycles By Troubleshoots technical issues and problems.
•         Able to work with limited supervision and guidance and complete tasks independently
•         Participates in product evaluations
•         Has basic knowledge of applicable principles, codes, regulations, polices, and procedures.
•         Assist Engineering with technical review and provide recommendations
•         Provide technical, and commissioning support for field and engineering activities for new and upgraded stations
•         Ability to identify and evaluate obsolete equipment and prioritize replacement work

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

•         High School Diploma or equivalent
•         3 years of related work experience
•         Willingness to travel within PG&E service territory

 

Desired:

•         Associate Degree, Technical Apprenticeship or relevant experience or military experience
•         Job-related technical experience
•         5 years of Gas utility industry experience
•         Knowledgeable with MS-Word, MS-Excel,
•         Knowledge in SAP WM, and PLM
•         Self-motivated and possess decisiveness in judgment
•         Strong oral and written skills
•         Knowledge in SAP WM, PLM
•         Demonstrates analytical problems solving skills.
•         Shows a willingness to learn
•         Experience with electronics and control technology.
•         Experience with equipment calibrating
