Summary: The Senior Manager, Forensics and Failure Analysis  oversees risk and compliance issues for Electric Operations, including leading processes to identify and assess risk, and partnering with senior leadership to develop effective mitigation strategies and plans with a focus on public and system safety. The incumbent champions risk efforts, ensuring awareness across Electric Operations, oversees operational risk management and provides guidance as a subject matter expert on corporate risk tools, policies, practices, and processes.

 

The selected candidate must live within PG&E’s service territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)            $163,000.00

Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)        $220,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $277,000.00

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads forensics and failure analysis program and activities
  • Oversees the management of various multi-disciplinary technical units containing a highly skilled and technical workforce and ensures high-value engineering services are provided to clients within PG&E.
  • Develops operational strategies, champions ATS technical expertise and provides client lines of business confidence in hiring ATS to perform high value work in terms of scope, schedule, budget, and technical accuracy.
  • Leads and is accountable for various projects, programs and/or pilots involving multi-disciplinary teams with significant impact to meet high-profile objectives and critical compliance deadlines for various operations within PG&E.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key internal organizations and develops and implements strategies to expand business unit capabilities and expertise to meet client needs.
  • Oversees and ensures assigned business units keep abreast of internal, regulatory and industry changes and maintain required lab qualifications and certifications for business continuity.
  • Oversees manager, principal, and supervisory staff to maintain effective collaboration across technical units, ensures productivity capacity goals are met through projects for internal clients utilizing client budgets to deliver quality work.
  • Interfaces with senior leadership regarding project status, quality and performance of work, and process improvements.
  • Provides direction and expertise for various company programs and initiatives and leads the delivery of high-value engineering and technical services.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on current and new industry technologies, and leads new technology analysis, development, and validation efforts.
  • Reviews and considers for approval new projects, services and/or technologies in accordance with forecasts and long-term plans.
  • Develops performance metrics and forecasts for business units with respect to project deliverables and presents performance results to Director.
  • Provides leadership and strategic direction to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of job-related technical experience
  • 5 years’ experience leading and/or managing engineering or technical staff

 

Desired:

  • Broad understanding of engineering concepts, theories, practices, methods, techniques in area of specialty as well as a general understanding of other engineering specialties
  • Management skills to lead teams and promote employee engagement.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information, to determine potential impacts, and recommend responses to challenges
  • Strong organizational and project management knowledge and skills to effectively lead diverse teams and complex projects
  • Ability to influence others to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment to act in support of ideas, programs or causes
  • Ability to convey credibility, confidence, and sense of authority. Conveys messages simply, concisely and at right pace and tone for audience.
