Position Summary
Innovation is notoriously difficult to measure, and the absence of good metrics is one of the most common reasons innovation programs lose credibility and funding. This role owns that problem. The Learning & Measurement Engineer designs the team’s measurement framework, builds internal learning systems, and tells the story of the team’s impact with rigor and transparency.
The selected candidate must live within PG&E’s service territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $142,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $175,000.00
Job Responsibilities
· Design and implement an innovation measurement framework appropriate to a regulated utility — covering inputs (resources, activity), outputs (ideas generated, projects launched), and outcomes (value delivered, capability built)
· Develop metrics for each horizon in the Three Horizons portfolio, recognizing that Horizon 3 outcomes may not be measurable on traditional business timelines
· Build processes for capturing learning from each innovation engagement — what worked, what did not, what should be carried forward, what should be retired
· Translate measurement findings into clear, compelling narratives for leadership — turning data into decisions, not just reports
· Coordinate with the Innovation Strategy Analyst on dashboard design and data visualization; own the storytelling layer of the team’s reporting
· Research and adapt best practices in innovation measurement from other industries, academic sources, and professional networks
· Advise the Senior Manager and Director on how to communicate the team’s value to executives, the board, and regulators in terms appropriate to each audience
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with emphasis in a discipline related to assignments. (i.e., mechanical, civil or electrical engineering, etc.)
- 3 years of job-related experience
Desired:
- Masters Degree or equivalent experience
- PE-Professional Engineer license
- Proficiency in engineering research and testing concepts, theories, practices, methods, techniques.
