Position Summary:

Sr. SCADA Specialist responsibilities include ensuring the availability, integrity, and reliability of assigned SCADA systems. Provides application solutions, development, advice, and assistance to clients to design, develop, integrate, and maintain SCADA systems. Conducts analysis, programming, troubleshooting, recommending solutions, and implementing fixes associated with SCADA systems and applications. Conducts systems modeling, migration, and administration. Prepares and reviews design documentation.



  • Data/Control Monitoring/Sharing and Management:
  • Provide routine/ad-hoc reporting for performance of various aspects of the Electric SCADA system including communications, COE, maintenance alarms, system states.
  • Provide reporting to lines of business leadership to track performance of support organization
  • Identify and initiate maintenance tickets for SCADA communications & maintenance alarms using DOD/ILIS, FAS, SAP, and BMC Remedy as applicable
  • Manage hand offs between field LOB’s to ensure restoration of inoperable SCADA equipment
  • Establish priorities for work to restore SCADA
  • Provide special project support, prioritizing criticality of SCADA assets, providing data requests and asset information as requested
  • Communicate & align priorities of  Electric SCADA operations, with the following, but not limited to the T200 Distribution Line Tech’s, T200 Communication Tech’s, FLISR Operations, Distribution Operations Engineers, & SCADA Specialists
  • Review all COE notifications for SCADA related issues, update SAP, and support SCADA issues until resolved as required by TD-2700
  • Provide Monthly metrics reports as required, including SCADA Health Metric Report
  • Manage/Administer the ODN Change Management tool in SAP
  • Manage/Administer Read-Only SCADA access
  • Provide 1st and 2nd tier support in testing, analyzing, diagnosing and resolving problems associated with SCADA/FLISR systems.
  • Provides support guidance, consultation to DCC personnel and end users in the development and implementation of SCADA and FLISR.
  • Available to support Distribution System Operations 24 x 7 for production support of SCADA/FLISR systems.
  • Awareness of  established policies and procedures to support all users of SCADA/FLISR
  • Support Project work as requested




  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline or equivalent experience or technical training.
  • 5 years of Engineering, Operations, IT or other utility experience 



  • Knowledge of operating systems and network topology.
  • Knowledge of SCADA related NERC CIP requirements in the ODN (Operation Data Network) as well as any remediation required to meet CM (Configuration Manager).
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and Access is required.
  • Experience working with SCADA or Automation systems preferred.
  • Intermediate to moderate knowledge of one or more of the following: Electric Distribution Operations; Distribution Automation; Distribution Engineering.
  • Knowledge of RTSCADA, ADMS, DERMS, DMS, advanced grid applications and Yukon Feeder Automation Software database support following Operating Standards and Procedures.
  • Experienced with SAP Work Management.
  • Knowledgeable of Electric M&C & Distribution Line Tech work processes.
  • Knowledgeable of the Critical Operating Equipment processes related to SCADA
  • Graphical user interface (GUI) and design skills desired
  • Knowledge of computer networking and SCADA/FLISR, PGE/DNP protocols desired
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems desired
  • Ability to be self-managing and to relish the challenges of problem solving.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to develop positive relationships with vendors and clients.  Document work practices appropriately.
