Department Overview

Corporate Security Department at PG&E is responsible for ensuring the Safety and Security of the enterprise. The department provides security services and security risk management for stakeholders across the organization. Security functions are led by PG&E’s Vice President - Chief Information Security Officer and Sr. Director of Corporate Security.


Position Summary

We are seeking an Expert Insider Threat Specialist, a key member PG&E’s Security Fusion Center, a combined workgroup focused on threat detection and mitigation. The successful candidate will apply analytical skills, technical acumen, and an investigative mindset to detect and assess security threats to PG&E’s workforce, customers, information, and critical assets. They will employ analytical and investigative methods and work cross-functionally across the physical security, cybersecurity, internal audit, HR, compliance, management, and legal functions to reduce business risk and drive resolutions.


Job Responsibilities

  • Implements comprehensive risk reduction methodologies.
  • Maintains risk registers, creates threat models, and develops actionable threat indicators.
  • Develops and maintains program metrics and applies findings to improve results. 
  • Manages security software applications and adapts configurations to align with emerging threats.
  • Evaluates new security technologies and advises on the use of existing tools and applications.
  • Leads development and implementation of new data sources and analytical methods.
  • Uses security applications and analytical methods to identify security threats or areas of concern.
  • Conducts preliminary inquiries to establish facts, assess risk, and determine follow-up action.
  • Leads analytically-focused research.
  • Performs threat assessment and behavioral analysis.
  • Reviews human failure and casual factor data, performs trend analysis, and makes procedural recommendations.
  • Assists with cyber security incident response activities.
  • Communicates findings and recommendations to management.
  • Develops written reports and presentations for management summarizing analysis, observations, and trends.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal business units and external agencies.
  • Performs cutting edge security analysis.
  • Uses intelligence feeds and analytical tools to maintain situational awareness to identify, track, and monitor emerging security threats to PG&E’s workforce, customers, information, and critical assets.



  • Must be able to qualify for NERC CIP clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Seven years of analytical or investigative experience in intelligence/counterintelligence, law enforcement, security, risk management, human resources, or other related experience
  • Ability to obtain IT security certification within one year of hire: CISM, CISA, CISSP, GIAC, or other certification
  • Information systems acumen as demonstrated through a combination of at least three years total relevant experience or equivalent training applying information technology to security or risk management problems such as:
    • Enterprise security platforms such as DLP, SIEM, UBA, etc
    • Open source intelligence analysis
    • Cybersecurity or digital forensics
    • Digital trust or privacy assurance
    • Platform abuse or loss prevention
    • Other relevant technical experience



  • Utility Experience
  • Insider threat program experience
  • Master’s degree with an analytical emphasis
  • Previous analytical or investigative experience
