Department Overview

The Wildfire, Emergency and Operations (WEO) organization is responsible for oversight of PG&E’s wildfire operations and associated mitigations. The organization is responsible for the development and maintenance of consistent processes and work standards associated with sustainable wildfire and emergency response preparedness operations in line with our regulatory policies and practices. WEO partners with leaders in Energy Delivery and other parts of the business to develop and recommend a strategic direction for emergency preparedness, emergency response and public partnerships.

 

Position Summary

Designs, develops, modifies, configures, debugs and evaluates jobs for extracting data from various sources, implements transformation logic, and stores data in various formats fit for use by stakeholders. Collects metadata about jobs including data lineage and transformation logic. Works with teams, clients, data owners and leadership throughout the development cycle practicing continuous improvement.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $​140,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​238,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $​133,000

California Maximum: $226,000

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assesses data pipeline performance and suggests/implements changes as required.
  • Communicates (oral and written) recommendations and findings to leaders.
  • Works on complex problems having broad impact that require in depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions.
  • Plans work to meet assigned goals / objectives.
  • Collaborates with leaders and stakeholders to work on issues, projects or activities.
  • Conceptualizes and generates infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.
  • Collaborates with team or peers to work on issues, projects or activities.
  • Resolves application programming analysis issues of broad scope
  • Drives continuous process improvement and manages complex technology and data process improvements and projects.
  • Leads the analysis and resolution of complex business issues related to operations.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience with data engineering/ETL ecosystems (e.g., Informatica, SAP BODS, OBIEE), 7 yrs
  • Experience with multiple data engineering/ETL ecosystems
  • Experience with machine learning algorithm deployment

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience, development teams
  • Experience building end-to-end, data-driven applications, including integration between backend data systems and modern front-end frameworks
  • Strong proficiency in front-end development (e.g., Svelte, React, or similar) with an emphasis on building intuitive, data-centric user interfaces
  • Experience designing and implementing API layers/services to expose data products for application consumption
  • Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) for building and managing automated data pipelines
  • Experience developing and deploying containerized applications (e.g., Docker) in cloud environments
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including building and iterating on scalable data and application architectures
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative development, including the ability to quickly translate concepts into functional proof-of-concept applications
  • Demonstrated ability to design dimensional data models (fact and dimension tables) to support both analytics and application use cases
  • Experience working across the full stack, including backend data services and frontend application layers
  • Ability to balance speed and architectural soundness when developing new data products and applications
  • Experience supporting or developing solutions using utility or operational data systems (e.g., asset, outage, or telemetry data) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge data engineering and application development, enabling data to be leveraged effectively in operational or decision-support tools
