Position Summary
This is an ESC represented exempt classification currently subject to collective bargaining.
This engineer position is for the individual who has demonstrated knowledge of digital systems engineering including working with control and monitoring system, networks, and cyber security. Chosen candidate should be able to work independently with limited supervision or guidance as well as in teams and small groups to solve problems.
The normal work schedule is a 4 day, 10 hour shift – Monday-Thursday 0630-1700 hours. Candidate may be requested to work weekends, including extended hours to address emergent plant issues.
You may have to occasionally wear Personal Protective Equipment such as hard hat, ear and eye protection, and gloves which are required in various parts of the nuclear power plant.
To obtain and maintain employment, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check for unescorted access to a nuclear plant, psychological screen, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening in fulfillment of federal requirements.
Position requires qualifying and maintaining a radiological worker qualification
You must be able to travel 5-10% of the year, with overnight stays up to a week at a time.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $115,128
California Maximum: $175,080
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems in a timely manner, working within the work control process to resolve plant problems.
- Review and perform technical analyses, studies, and develop conceptual solutions regarding security hardware and software.
- Schedule and coordinate engineering design and construction projects with key stakeholders such as Operations, Maintenance and Engineering.
- Presents findings and conclusions to internal organizations, contractors, outside vendors, regulators and management.
- Develops and revises Software Quality Assurance plans on designated systems.
- Develops and implements Software Change Packages for plant digital systems.
- Performs independent reviews and evaluations of technical documents, calculations, procedures and/or design drawings
- In addition to the Company job expectations regarding safety applicable to all employees, identify opportunities to implement safe work practices into procedures and champion their implementation.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- A four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited curriculum in the United States or the equivalent as defined in ANSI/ANS-3.1-1 993
- Mastery of the Associate level Engineer job duties or equivalent and demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform the basic duties of the Journey Level Engineer. Meets specific technical requirements gained through a minimum of four years of cumulative experience in engineering and related science or three years as an Associate Engineer (NUC). Has obtained applicable qualifications for position as specified in the Engineering Support Personnel training program.
Desired:
- 3 years digital engineering experience, or equivalent related digital systems experience
- 2 years experience with Cisco network components
- Experience with Allen Bradley and/or other Programmable Logic Computers (PLC)
- Demonstrated ability to apply complex problem solving techniques.
- Working knowledge of SAP software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- 3 years commercial nuclear power plant experience
- Cisco CCNA, CCDP, or CCDE Certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration
- Familiarity with communications protocols (RS232, RS485, etc)
- Working knowledge of programming languages (C, C++, C#, MS VB, etc)
- Working knowledge of SQA processes
- Knowledge of Cyber Security best practices and implementation procedures
- Work with limited supervision and guidance, both independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to make timely and accurate decisions and recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply basic analytical and investigative principles to solve routine problems.
