Department Overview

PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).


Position Summary


Oversees the management, development, implementation, and evaluation of a centralized asset management program in Power Generation. Leads the establishment of strategic, operational, and long-term investment plans, and the creation of performance goals and metrics.

Provides consultation to the development and reporting of economic analysis, investment decisions, quality assurance, and workflow deployment. Partners with the Hydro Licensing and other teams in Generation to develop and implement financial plans.  Works with the Dam Safety Group on FERC/DSOD required testing of gates and valves on Dams.  Leads the civil asset management programs team such as penstocks, low level outlets, dam spill gates, water conveyance, dam spillways, etc. to ensure the correct health and risk scoring is established.  Works with line of business to ensure the correct projects are funded and executed.



-Responsible for ensuring the execution and compliance of asset management policies, processes, and procedures.

-Evaluates the asset management program inventory that includes the monitoring, tracking, and prioritization of asset health, capital projects, and maintenance workflow.

-Conducts quality control audits and inspections of databases, files, reports,

-Manages, consolidates, and ensures the timely and accurate reporting of data and information from asset management programs and functions.

-Develops and monitors Business Planning program metrics, evaluates reports, identifies discrepancies, and implements corrective actions.

-Provides input and support regarding the development of asset management strategic plans.

-Supports the development and reporting of economic analysis, investment planning, risk assessment, quality assurance, and workflow delegation.

-Supervises, coaches, and develops a departmental staff.




-Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or job-related discipline or equivalent experience

-Job-related experience, 5 years



-Experience in a Business Planning or Business Finance function

-Current and active California PE license

-Master’s Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience

-PMI-Project Management Institute PMP- Project Management Certification

-Management Professional certification

-LSS-Lean Six Sigma Certification

-Experience in leading teams

-Experience in asset management programs

-Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals

-Competency in interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions

-Competency in providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done
