Department Overview
PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Position Summary
Oversees the management, development, implementation, and evaluation of a centralized asset management field work and inspections teams. Leads the establishment of strategic, and operational investment plans, and the creation of performance goals and metrics. Oversees the coordination of complex inspections of civil, mechanical, and electrical assets and implements corrective actions. Provides consultation to the development and reporting of complex economic analysis, investment decisions, quality assurance, and workflow deployment. Partners with various lines of business to develop and implement asset management goals and plans.
This position is hybrid with anticipated field or site visits weekly. Flexible location with expected 40% travel.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
Bay Area Minimum:$136,000
Bay Area Mid: $184,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000
California Minimum: $129,000
California Mid: $175,000
California Maximum: $220,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the execution and compliance of asset management policies, processes, and procedures.
- Evaluates the asset management program inventory that includes the monitoring, tracking, and prioritization of asset health, capital projects, and maintenance workflow.
- Conducts quality control audits and inspections of databases, files, reports, and drawings.
- Oversees the implementation of new asset management programs.
- Manages, consolidates, and ensures the timely and accurate reporting of data and information from asset management programs and functions.
- Develops and monitors asset management and APL program metrics, evaluates reports, identifies discrepancies, and implements corrective actions.
- Establishes and reviews benchmarks of asset inspection activities for continuous improvement.
- Partners with Operations and Maintenance, Project Engineering, and Safety, Quality and Standards (SQS) to implement asset management goals and plans.
- Provides input and support regarding the development of asset management strategic plans.
- Supports the development and reporting of economic analysis, investment planning, risk assessment, quality assurance, and workflow delegation.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Five (5) years of experience within utility operations, maintenance, engineering, planning, project management, or related experience
Desired
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (LSS)
- Institute of Asset Management – Certificate in Asset Management
- Experience with asset management programs and initiatives
- Experience with utility technologies and infrastructure
- Experience in organization with a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle
- Experience to lead multiple cross-functional projects and teams simultaneously, providing resolutions to complex issues, and oversight of projects and teams from conception to review
