Department Overview

 

 

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

 

 

 

Position Summary

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location, subject to change per business needs.

 

The assigned work location will be flexible within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

Manages contracts with various entities. Act as subject matter expert on the assigned contracts and coordinate legal and regulatory contract and reporting issues. May maintain and build relationships with critical customer representatives. May interact with external entities such as regulators, courts, competitors, and customers as required. Duties include the following:

 

 

Contract Management—Primary PG&E contact responsible for all aspects of the PG&E/customer contractual relationship, balancing a variety of day-to-day activities including: ensuring contract provisions are managed and applied appropriately and handling new requests for interconnection; negotiating new or amended contracts; resolving disputes with the counterparty; and facilitating the resolution of engineering, operating and planning issues. Represents PG&E externally and acts as customer advocate internally.

 

 

Project Management—Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure timely deployment of projects and facilitate the resolution of engineering, operating, planning and policy issues relating to projects.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

 

A reasonable salary range is:​ 

 

Bay Area Minimum:    $​114,000

Bay Area Maximum:   $162,800.00

 

OR​

 

California Minimum:   $​108,000

California Maximum: $155,100.00

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supports Power Generation on complex cross-functional projects and contracts
  • Advises senior leadership (internal and external) on contracting strategy and negotiations.
  • Assists in the negotiation of complex contract issues. Leads the effort to identify, analyze, improve existing business processes, and create new business processes within the department to meet goals and objectives.
  • Works closely with key project stakeholders.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for the contracts team to PG&E’s Legal Department.
  • Provides active guidance, support, mentorship and training to contract management staff.
  • Develops and delivers contract management training to all stakeholders.
  • Single point of contact for the Enterprise Contract Management Program.
  • Collaborates with other PG&E Functional Areas to promote knowledge sharing and use and development of best practices.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering or related degree; or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

 

  

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • MS degree desired
  • Certification such as one of the following or related:

-Project Management Professional (PMP)

-Professional Engineering License (PE)

  • Experience with quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) regarding contract documents.
  • Possess strong written and verbal skills with the ability to tailor communications to specific audiences.
  • Possesses and demonstrates a full working knowledge of contract management lifecycle.
  • Experience with process development, review, and continuous improvement.
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Subject matter expertise with composition, management, administration, and negotiation of contracts and change orders
  • Ability to apply business knowledge, project management methodologies, and best practices.
  • Ability to manage conflict constructively with a win-win resolution in mind.
  • Knowledge of budget and resource allocation and formulation of contracts, bids, agreements, and RFPs.
  • Analytical, critical, and technical thinking skills.       
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional project team
  • Ability to develop reports, models, and simulations.
  • Prioritizes workload independently based on department priorities and goals.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and contract information systems and applications (e.g. Ariba, SAP, scheduling software).
