Department Overview
Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations and maintenance, as well as Power Generation operations. The Team manages over 100,000 circuit miles of electric distribution lines and over 18,000 circuit miles of interconnected transmission lines, and operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for customers. Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.
Position Summary
The Supervisor, Contract Construction manages all aspects of the internal & external contract crew Inspectors. This includes scheduling, matching skill sets to projects, time reporting review and oversight, vehicles, technology and training. The Supervisor will be expected to stand on call in a rotation with his/her peers and responds to routine and major emergency events. The Supervisor provides leadership guidance and oversight consistent with the California Redbook and PG&E safe work practices and procedures. Oversight is also provided to ensure compliance with PG&E Construction standards and California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) General Orders 95, 128 & 165. Analysis will be expected to prioritize all work to determine the safest, most efficient completion strategy. The Supervisor will also implement new safety policies and best practices as well as manage employee’s accountability and ensure full compliance with the Injury & Illness Prevention Programs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although, we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Minimum: $123,000
Midpoint $160,000
Maximum: $197,000
Job Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains documentation related to procedures and processes. Works to address the needs of customers and develops comprehensive solutions/offerings that address complex needs across all customer segments.
- Monitors and ensures closure/completion of projects and/or other programs work orders. Develops a safety culture that is accountable for decisions and provides messaging regarding safety. Maintains safe and reliable operations during unplanned events such as outages, pressure reductions, and emergency events.
- Participates in onsite tailboards or group discussions to ensure the safety and productivity of all workgroups and to minimize changes to scope, cost or schedule. Fosters teamwork, and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Leads the responding and resolving field troubleshooting requests. Visits work sites to monitor operations. Ensures maintenance and construction work is completed on time and within budget and quality expectations, while monitoring compliance to standards and specifications.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High-School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, field maintenance operations, or related electric utility experience
- Must obtain a California Driver’s License by first day of Employment
Desired:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field
- Previous experience in the electric utility industry. Journeyman lineman experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the California Public Utility Commission General Orders (GO) 95, 128, 165.
- Travels at least 10% - 50% of time with occasional overnight stays
- Must be able to travel and work a flexible schedule, including being on call as well as responding to emergencies that may occur throughout our service territory
- May work outside in remote areas, steep and/or uneven terrain, and inclement weather conditions.
