At PG&E, we believe that different ideas and perspectives spur innovation, strengthen our business operations and enable us to better meet the needs of our customers, who live in some of the most diverse communities in the nation. This commitment to diversity and inclusion is central to our values, important to our future, and essential for creating opportunities in progress.
“At PG&E, we strive to provide an environment where our employees are able to do their very best work. We do this by creating an inclusive culture and hiring a diverse workforce -- one that reflects the diversity of our customers, works to meet the needs of the communities we serve and builds a strong and diverse supply chain. This commitment is a critical part of our values and how we endeavor to approach each person every day.”
-- Laura Butler, VP Talent Management and Chief Diversity Officer
We define diversity as all of the ways in which people are different. It is present in our job functions, work styles and experiences. Diversity promotes the exchange of ideas in the workplace, supports collaboration, inspires innovation and encourages inclusion. Inclusion enables the collaboration of different talents, thoughts and energies. Diversity and inclusion allow PG&E to achieve our business strategies and goals, be better corporate citizens, and to be the best in our industry.
Employee Resource Groups
PG&E demonstrates the value of diversity through the composition of our workforce and in our commitment to represent the communities we serve. We actively partner with diversity organizations and champion involvement with our internal Employee Resources Groups (ERGs), which play a vital role in the company’s overall business success. These groups assist in welcoming and mentoring new employees, and provide professional and career workshops, social networking events and community support through scholarships and more. National Diversity Partnerships
PG&E is a long-standing sponsor of the national diversity organizations SWE (Society of Women Engineers), NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) and SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers). To support those partnerships, we have internal professional networks that focus on the recruitment, retention, development and engagement of our employees and our commitment to diversity in our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) organizations.
PG&E recognizes and honors active military, veterans and retirees, and has been acknowledged for our commitment to hiring and developing veterans and reserve military personnel. We welcome the unique experience of veterans and are proud to offer challenging opportunities that demand technical and problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, craft skills and other valuable talents. Positions of interest may include technician, operator, mechanic, engineer, supervisor and administrative support, just to name a few. PG&E can provide a rewarding career, along with the training and support needed to make a successful transition into a civilian role.
