The men and women of Electric Operations ensure thedelivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management,business planning, restoration and emergency response.
As a Design Engineer, you will be the vital link between the Company and widespread interconnection of generation, customer capacity (residential, commercial and industrial), andreliability improvements in California. Your role will be to ensure that the Company provides excellent service for these projects. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering * Must have a California Driver’s License or be able to obtain one by first day of employment
Desired Qualifications: * 1 year of experience in transmission line related design * Familiarity with PG&E standards and processes * Experience with PLS CADD (Transmission Line modeling software * EIT/PE certification
* Safety – Actively promote safe practices and conduct in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy * Accomplish the department goal of zero injuries & avoidable auto incidents * Foster team work and innovation, andembrace new approaches to accomplish our work more efficiently and effectively * Prepare detailed construction drawings for Transmission Line projects using PLS-CADD and MicroStation software * Design Transmission structures and foundations * Ensuredelivery of high quality design products on budget, on time and on purpose * Ensure Transmission Line infrastructure meets company and industry standards. * Construction Support – Attend field meetings and provide on-site assistance to constructioncrews * Quality Control – Provide valuable input in evaluating and cross-checking peers and contractors.
Design Engineering is an integral part of the Transmission Lines Design Engineering Department at Pacific Gas & Electric Company. The designengineering team supports the Company’s capital investment on transmission line projects. This team is responsible for the preparation of detailed construction drawings for transmission lines. We provide design engineering expertise to upgrade, expand and replacethe Company’s infrastructure in the following: * Transmission line equipment * Transmission lines * Design of foundations and structures * Technical assistance on feasibility studies * Review design and construction drawings prepared bycontractors * Construction support * As-builts and record keeping
