The men and women of Electric Operations ensure thedelivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management,business planning, restoration and emergency response.
The Inspectors are qualified company representatives responsible for providing direct oversight of construction activities by contractors at PG&E. The Incumbents are theliaisons between the contractor and all other workgroups that may be involved in the successful completion of the construction project. Inspectors may be focused on either the electrical or civil side of construction projects. Inspectors focus on qualitycontrol, quality assurance and foster a safe work environment by exhibiting an absolute commitment to safety for self and others.
Minimum: * High School or GED * At least 5 years of journey-level experience in a utility relatedconstruction, inspection or supervisory role.
Desired: * Strong leadership and coaching skills. Proficient in interpreting relevant drawings (electrical or civil) to confirm constructability. * Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management orrelated field * Experience at PG&E (as an internal employee, Hiring Hall, or contractor) in civil or electrical construction * MS Office suite skills * Experience in an electrical utility or refinery * Working knowledge of Quality Assuranceand Quality Control * Ability to manage conflict resolution while working in a team and stakeholder environment. * Ability to interpret contractor documentation, language and specifications * Ability to oversee multiple projects in various phases ofconstruction.
* Manages Transmission Line construction projects by overseeing all inspection activities. * Is involved in up-front planning, including but not limited to: attend walk downs, design reviews and constructabilityreviews to reduce construction costs and increase safety. * Receives final prints; creates, revises and/or confirms scope of work. * Reviews job estimate for adequate funding. * Visits projects during construction phase to ensure work of contractorsmeets PG&E quality and safety standards utilizing established Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs. * Issues field authorization to contractor when scope changes occur. * Act to resolve complex material and engineering issues related toconstruction. * Mentors and coach Inspectors and Sr. Inspectors and provides feedback of Inspector development to Construction Supervisor. Provides Project Managers with status reports detailing any changes to scope, schedule or cost. * Verifies contactedwork is completed to specifications and coordinates with Contract Management group to approve contractor invoices. * Provides Construction Supervisor with project related data for financial reporting. * Assists Construction Supervisor in scheduling of * Inspectors and Senior Inspectors to projects. * Lead Electrical Inspector may work with clearance coordinators to schedule clearances, providing details to coordinator regarding clearance duration and/or sequencing. * Ensures a Close-Out plan has beendeveloped to expediently complete all construction activities.
