Department Overview

 

EPD&A Business Operations provides essential front office and business capability to the Enterprise Protection, Data, and Analytics teams through coordination of the EPD&A True North Strategy, financial and resource planning and stewardship, delivery of programs and projects, and vendor management.

Position Summary

 

This is a fast paced and challenging Product Owner role in PG&E’s Enterprise Protection Data & Analytics Business Operations organization. EPD&A Business Operations supports all sub organizations within the EPD&A umbrella and this role will specifically support the Data team. This role is integral to coordinating across various Data teams to provide a unified perspective and updates on and to key activities and initiatives. This role will support strategy development, implementation, and maintenance of processes that enhance the effectiveness of the Data teams.

The Expert Product Owner will serve functions in LEAN deployments, waste elimination initiatives, product management, and operations. Experts regularly engage in ambiguous environment. You will create high-leverage, business artifacts (Docs, PPTs, Excels, etc.) that are reusable; you will use these artifacts to facilitate and drive alignment with leaders throughout PG&E. You should be proactive in identifying and documenting existing business process operations, and inventive in developing what a future and aspirational state can be. No task is beneath you. You will help develop, socialize, and maintain integrated Data related deliverables, a TNS roadmap that links customers’ demand(s) with Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Platforms, and Operation needs. You will play a meaningful role in shaping how our data investments serve PG&E’s True North State. The role is inherently cross functional. The position is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person in the Oakland General Office or other Bay Area offices up to 3x weekly or as business needs require. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:             $128,000      

Bay Area Maximum:            $218,000

  

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate activities across the various Data teams for a multitude of functions associated with, but not limited to planning, tracking, reporting on strategic activities, process automations and improvements, LEAN operating reviews, KPI tracking, and coordination of employee engagement activities. 
  • Strategy: Function as “front door” for strategy activities and manage updates and delivery against relevant TNS business plans (e.g., TNS Business Plan for Data & Analytics). Develop deep knowledge of work related to the True North Strategy for the data teams. Create drafts of plans and comms for TNS and author the draft content.  Enable the outcome. Be involved in content authoring and development. Be the delegate for the leaders and speak/ present on TNS updates, as needed.
  • Help design KPIs and develop processes to gather data, enable creation of metrics, as well as facilitate review of results etc.
  • Planning: Interlock plans across a broad set of organizations that are required for successful execution of the Data teams’ portfolio of work.
  • LEAN: Facilitate the implementation and success of team Lean processes, including operating rhythm and KPIs, including design, implementation and maintenance of metrics and visual management boards.
  • Board of Director (BoD): Support tracking of BoD commitments and organize and contribute to BoD updates.
  • Large Meetings: Support and facilitate large format meetings, e.g.: all hands, anything that requires facilitation and has a regular cadence.
  • Employee Engagement: Engage with employee resource groups such as diversity committee, Joy@Work, safety council if needed.
  • Support Book of Work planning process (annual, quarterly, PI planning as needed) and assist with prioritization of BOW items with Leaders on a regular basis.
  • Facilitate alignment, timely completion and integration with Data teams related deliverables to address asks across IT, OCIO, Functional Areas and Enterprise.
  • Communication: Support timely and effective communication from and to the Data teams across various orgs and stakeholders.
  • Standardization of work: Improve report outs from product teams and PI commitment discussions. Create a standardized between teams to collaborate and align on various metrics. Ideally partner with Lean office, or other coaches and teams that have best practices in place.
  • Perform complex business analysis and identify processes that can be streamlined and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Track and support development and movement of the Data team’s continuous improvement opportunities.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • High school diploma
  • 5 years of work experience in Information Technology to include project management, product owner or other relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of change management, project delivery methodologies, LEAN, Agile, Waterfall, or waste eimination

 

Desired:

 

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
  • MBA
  • Experience with building, assessing and tracking KPI and metrics
  • Experience with rolling out communications at an Enterprise level
  • Experience with cross collaboration across teams. Highly collaborative, able to work cross-functionally; possessing the ability to forge relationships and partner effectively
  • Working knowledge of implementing process improvements
  • Organized, strategically focused, meticulous, and able to deal with ambiguity in a constantly evolving fast paced environment
  • Working knowledge of technology implementations, dependencies, and risks
  • Business Analysts related work experience, highly desirable
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Ability to learn recent technology and concepts quickly
  • Management Consulting experience, driving business outcome

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

 

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, technical, written, verbal communication and facilitation skills with the ability to present complex information, concisely to executives
  • Strong in MS Office Suite of applications, and systems like SAP, PRJ, ARIBA, ATLAS
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively navigate complex organizational, process, technical and political challenges with minimal direction and supervision
  • A demonstrated and initiative-taking ability to help explain necessary trade-offs and balances between immediate and tactical needs or issues with senior executives
