Department Overview

PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

 

Position Summary

Position Location Flexible within the Power Generation Area Headquarters.

 

Work with Asset Management to build out a Hydro Asset Inspection Coordination Program. Oversees Program Managers who plan and coordinate Hydro asset inspections. Manage AM Asset Inspection budget. Oversees development of asset inspection specifications and management of inspection contracts. Ensures Program Managers identify, prioritize, and input inspection findings into SAP WM Notifications for maintenance and project work for disposition. Reports asset inspection progress to stakeholders and elevates critical findings to the AM Manager and Director for disposition when required.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $​122,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​194,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $​116,000

California Maximum: $184,000

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Manage asset inspection requirements and procedures.
  • Oversee the coordination with Maintenance Planning department on SAP WM H1 Notifications developed from inspection results.
  • Develops and implements procedures and standards and provides leadership to ensure company and contract personnel comply with company safety standards and with all laws, regulations, company policies, standards and bulletins.
  • Leads the team on contractor safety program implementation efforts, and trains and coaches’ team on contractor safety requirements to ensure compliance with PG&E’s contractor safety standard.
  • Leads the team to inspect specified Hydro assets within the PG&E Hydro system.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained and contractors are fully qualified.
  • Works with staff to develop work schedules and resource allocation plans and prioritizes work to avoid delays and maximize efficiency
  • Forecasts adequate staffing, material, and equipment.
  • Maintains and reports progress and status of inspections being performed weekly to leadership and relevant cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Supervises professional personnel.
  • Works with inspectors to ensure quality plans are adequate to cover the scope of work and is executable.
  • Audits inspector files to ensure inspectors reports are maintained in the approved location; are complete; are accessible to all team members and outage managers when supporting outages.
  • Inform long term planning strategies with inspection-based asset health evaluations with risk ranking.
  • Work cross functionally with Asset Family Owners, Process Owners / Managers, Program Managers / Forecasters, Witnesses, and other Key Stakeholders to Understand Key Program/Project Drivers.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Six years of experience in construction management
  • Travel at least 50% of the time with occasional overnight stays

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Asset Management function.
  • Capable of building an end-to-end asset inspection process with associated training materials.
  • Ability to train the team to build contract specifications to define a scope of work and manage contracts.
  • Team building capabilities.
  • Experience in leading professional individual contributors to maximize team performance.   
  • Proficient with Microsoft products Teams, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, Project, Visio, etc.
  • Ability to learn complex software applications such as SAP and GIS.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business driven priorities.
  • Ability to travel the Hydro service territory to become familiar with Hydro related assets.    
  • Ability to partner, collaborate, and communicate well with a diverse set of colleagues, both technical and non-technical, at all levels of the organization.
  • BA/BS, preferably in Engineering, Construction Technology, Business, Economics, Accounting, Construction Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytic skills
