Millions of Californians depend on the PG&E Electric Operations team to ensure the distribution and transmission of clean, efficient electricity. It is our job to respond to emergency outages, maintain the PG&E electric grid, plan for future growth, and engineer new solutions for optimal service delivery. Electric Operations consists of these business areas:

Strategic Business Management

Strategic Business Management develops overarching operating plans, collects and analyzes metrics, and supports PG&E workforce and financial strategy planning.

Asset Management

Asset Management defines the PG&E asset investment strategy, putting the essential controls, systems and standards in place. Our work encompasses system safety, reliability, risk, compliance, technology and central engineering.

Transmission Operations

Transmission Operations manages all aspects of grid operations, as well as the construction, operation and maintenance of PG&E substations and transmission systems.

Distribution Operations

Distribution Operations ensures the construction, operations and maintenance of the PG&E electric distribution system, with an emphasis on preventative actions, restoration needs and system reliability standards.

Opportunities in Electric Operations at PG&E may include:

  • Journeyman Lineworker
    Journeymen Lineworkers are responsible for the construction and repair of overhead and underground high-voltage electric facilities and equipment. PG&E Lineworkers are represented by the IBEW and will be required to undergo physical and skills testing.
  • Journey Electric Technician
    Journey Electric Technicians work on the calibration, installation, maintenance, and operation of various types of electrical equipment. PG&E Electric Technicians are represented by the IBEW and will be required to undergo physical and skills testing.
  • Supervisor, Electrical Distribution
    Supervisors oversee project teams that are maintaining or building parts of the PG&E service territory distribution grid. Candidates must have electric utility maintenance, construction, or operations experience and be fully committed to safety best practices.
